I have installed and set up XFree86 4.3. Starting from re-boot, the system gets into x-window properly. The login and xconsole window were displayed. The problem is with the resolution. In both windows, there is a matrix of dots. I can't see the login name. But on some occasions when I can open a window for bash, the display was alright, except that the character size was a bit too small. Moreover, x-window re-starts quite frequently when I am accessing menu items. Initially I suspect a lack of memory problem. When I run bash in x-window and do a 'free' its shows free memory of >12M.
Could both the res and the frequent re-start due to the same problem or are they separate?
I shall appreciate some answers.
