I'm a Linux newbie. I have troule in X on a Thinkpad R32 notebook (ATI radeon M6).
I've tried several Linux distributions, including Mandrake 9.1, Redhat 9.0 and Debian testing. They all seem have a common problem - system crash on starting X! (I have to cut the power to turn it off...)
The problem is not always, in most cases it will startx as normal. However it's about 30% chance the system will crash on starting X.
I'm not sure what could cause the problem, is it the "radeon" driver, the xfree86 or framebuffer?
If anyone got any clue, I will appreciate.
Cheers,
