ctrl-alt-backspace is a PM hotkey sequence for SiS chipsets.
Not neccessarily "power management" - or better: sometimes in the true meaning of these words: my MSI 651 and my MSI 650 simple switch themselves off (!) when pressing these keys... Be happy that your's only go to sleep... :)
