I don't know much about the Trident driver, but this line from
the server output seems odd:
(II) TRIDENT(0): Clock range: 12.00 to 25.18 MHz
A modeline like:
ModeLine "640x480" 25.18 640 656 752 800 480 490 492 525
ought to work. Was it your impression that this card was capable
of more than 640x480 ? You're using a pretty old version of XFree86
(over 3 years old). Perhaps a newer version would work better?
XFree86 4.3 is the newest version.
