Hello,
I don't know what you precisely mean but if you want to disable XFree86
on Linux you can do this (as root):
init 3
If you want to restart it you can do:
init 4 (for Slackware)
init 5 (for other distros)
You can disable Xfree86 permanently by editing /etc/inittab as well.
