Hi,

i attached a post from the newsgroup 'ka.comp.linux' on news://news.t-online.de !
But it's written in German!!!
You can try the 'XFree86 Video Timings HOWTO' (http://www.xfree86.org/3.3.6/VideoModes.html ) for an explanation of the values.

OK, genug geschwafelt...

Modeline "1280x1024" 145.69 1280 1376 1512 1744 1024 1025 1028 1071

1280x1024: Name, sinnvollerweise entsprechend der Auflsung, mu aber
nicht
145.69: Pixelfrequenz oder irgendetwas verwandtes, drfte MHz sein
1280 1376 1512 1744: Horizontale Werte
1024 1025 1028 1071: Vertikale Werte
Dabei sind das jeweils in Pixeln bzw. Zeilen:
Entsprechend vertikal, also braucht das Bild
1744*1071/145.69 s , also Bildwiederholfrequenz von 78Hz

Hi all..

Are there any experts on modelines here?

I am currently in the process of testing out some "medical" LCD
monitors. (Medical means they removed the color filters, and put a
couple of zeros on the price!). I'm using the DVI output on a ATI FireGL
X2 graphics board.

For some reasons some vendors of these monitors have a habit of
returning bogus EDID data. I get this from a Barco 3320 D:

clock: 200.4 MHz Image Size: 424 x 318 mm
h_active: 2048 h_sync: 2096 h_sync_end 2156 h_blank_end 2152 h_border:
0
v_active: 1536 v_sync: 1537 v_sync_end 1557 v_blanking: 1558 v_border:
0
