Is the app running in the same depth as when it runs under Solaris?
It's not uncommon for apps that usually only run on Sun to only support
the visuals that Sun exports and to have weird colors when run in a
different visual. The app likely only supports depth 8 PseudoColor
and depth 24 TrueColor, or maybe only one of those.
