I have just submitted a bug in xdm when used with BSDAUTH : the default class is always used, regardless of the class defined in /etc/master.passwd (OpenBSD). Of course, the bug also affects xdm / XFree.
Basicly, the call to auth_verify() misses an argument.
I have a (good [I mean, not a hack] and tested) fix for that. See https://freedesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1676
Thanks for the report. After verifying with OpenBSD's BSDAUTH gurus, I've commited your fix.
