Try finding all the things in your xlog file that come up as "(--) probed" and
set them up manually in your X config.
I read of a few cases like yours in which the auto detected was not picking up
the video ram and chipset properly.
Does all this look right:
(--) PCI: (0:11:0) 3DLabs GLINT R3 rev 1, Mem @ 0xdffe0000/17, 0xd8000000/26,
0xd4000000/26, BIOS @ 0xdffd0000/16
(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 86C326 5598/6326 rev 11, Mem
@ 0xcf000000/23, 0xdfaf0000/16, I/O @ 0xac00/7, BIOS @ 0xdfae0000/16
(--) Chipset SIS6326/AGP/DVD found
(--) Chipset pm3 found

Let me know if it's helpful setting your VideoRam (as in
http://www.xfree86.org/4.4.0/glint.4.html) and your chipset manually.
