Your log says:
(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS630 GUI Accelerator+3D
rev+49, Mem @ 0xd0000000/27, 0xdd000000/17, I/O @ 0xc000/7
but then it also says:
(II) LoadModule: "vga"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/vga_drv.o
(II) Module vga: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
compiled for 4.4.0, module version = 4.0.0
Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.7
...
(II) VGA: Generic VGA driver (version 4.0) for chipsets: generic
...
(II) Setting vga for screen 0.
...
(II) VGA(0): initializing int10.
(II) VGA(0): Primary V_BIOS segment is: 0xc000
(EE) VGA(0): Given depth (16) is not supported by this driver.
(II) UnloadModule: "vga"
(II) UnloadModule: "int10"
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
Man vga says: "The driver supports depths 1, 4 and 8."
So, it appears you're trying to use an unsupported depth.
But more basically, is there a reason why you don't want to use the
sis module that should be the preferred driver for your video card?
HTH,
Jim
