In short, we may loose histories (very bad). An easy example, you have now in your computer hvm.c version 9788. In the old SVN server, you can trace back the changes up to the first time hvm.c is posted in the repo. But in the new site, it's still uncertain :-( We loose more than half of our life if we miss this track-down facilities.
