Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can ease my mind a bit about the intended strategy
for implementing access control in Xindice. The reason I bring it up at all
is that over at xmldb.org, they mention a potential ACL project with a
proposed spec which worries me very much. The proposed (or potential)
solution involves adding elements to the documents to be stored. If
something like this is adopted in Xindice, it will make Xindice nearly
useless to me :( I would much prefer just about any other scheme!
Something, hopefully, which decouples access control from the contents of
the documents themselves.

I haven't seen a great deal of discussion on this topic here, so maybe the
work has begun and maybe it has not. Can anyone enlighten me as to the
direction (or current lack thereof)? As I said, if something like the xml:db
idea is being supported, I'll have to find a different XML database ASAP. I
would rather continue to support Xindice.

Thanks for your time.
