Changing XINDICE_HOME breaks bin/xindice.bat completely as it cannot find its stuff. Thus, catch22 situation.
Why not introducing XINDICE_DB_HOME? XINDICE_HOME points to where the Xindice application is and XINDICE_DB_HOME to where you want the db to be stored.
It would require some adjustment all over the code but it would make more sense.
