Download the XML:DB API reference implementation, it includes the start of a generic test suite as well as a file system based XML:DB driver. When I wrote it, my intention for it was to become a verification suite. I used it heavily when I wrote the original Xindice drivers and the API reference implementation. I haven't looked at the latest Xindice tests, so I don't know if they're better or not now. In the past the reference impl had better tests. May no longer be the case, but definitely worth checking out if you want to tackle it.

Of course the XML:DB API itself needs a bit of work too.

Correct me if I'm wrong ... but I can't find a verification suite for the

The xindice integration tests may be a good starting point for this. They
are currently run against the three xindice drivers. Thanks to the
outstanding work of Vladimir R. Bossicard it's very easy to add an
additional driver. Simple cross implementation verification is a important
for everyone using the xmldb api. Creating a nutural verification suite is
a step in this direction.
