Newbie question on Addressbook sample app.

Hello,
 
Firstly,  thanks for this impressive application and apologies for this "newbie" question.
 
I am having difficulties with the Addressbook sample app. from dbXML-Core-1.0b4 ( binary download from SourceForge)
 
The app complies and runs fine, but we I select list records or try to add a record I get a message the states: "Sorry, No contacts found! "
 
This is not accompanied by any error messages on my console.
 
Any ideas?
