Thanks Nutan,

The product ID's in this case were "loaded"  as  '  product_id="120320" ' (my
single quotes) in accordance with  the XML specification for attribute / value
pairs. The suggested syntax ( xindice xpath -c /db/vp -q
"/[EMAIL PROTECTED]'VPU-1001']" )
is still not working (see original posting).
