There's two things I'd say here - if enough people here think a wiki would be useful, we can ask for one from the infrastructure guys.
Secondly, if the docs that you find are poor, perhaps they also need improving, so I'd recommend and encourage you to provide patches. Some of the stuff you mention probably should be in the main docs, and help in maintaining those is always appreciated.
