Weird. I just saved a raw response from my environment and it's plain XML. Firebird 0.7 styles it for me, but viewing it in source shows raw XML.
I'm using the following envinronment: xml-xindice 1.1b4-dev checked out on 01/03/04 cocoon-2.1.4-dev checked out on 12/15/03 For cocoon, I built everything (j2sdk 1.4.2_02-b03) which included xindice 1.1b3. Once I deployed the cocoon war I went back into cocoon/WEB-INF/lib and replaced all the xindice-related jars with the distribution I checked out. I then reloaded cocoon via the Tomcat manager application and all has been well ever since. I haven't upgraded my version of cocoon lately since for what I'm doing (new request tracking system based on xindice, new pim based on ical, new pm system based on the pm schema) this environment seems to work well. However, since I've been job hunting I've not focused on my development efforts as much, so I haven't stressed this environment very hard.
