What about using a client on top of Xindice 1.1 to access (remotely) a stand-alone Xindice 1.0 server?
I have tried that but it does not work.

With an Xindice 1.1 client:
bash-2.05b$ ./bin/xindice.sh lc -c xmldb:xindice://a.machine.somewhere:4080/db/
I get
XMLDB Exception 0: Cannot communicate with the server: http://a.machine.somewhere:4080/xindice/
but with an Xindice 1.0 client:
bash-2.05b$ ./bin/xindice.sh lc -c xmldb:xindice://a.machine.somewhere:4080/db/
I get real stuff back (which is obvious ;-) )

Question:
Is it impossible to make old and new Xindice co-exist peacefully at armslength distance?
I thought the process2process protocol in use was implementation-independent.
