The files are present.
I created others .tab files in <mailroot> dir with just one empty line (so
all .tab files are present and with no 0 lenght)
Xmail starts OK now.
What is the exact list of minimum necessary files for xmail to start ?

Check Your installation, the presence of files and directory.
At a first inspection XMail could exit if one of the files domains.tab,
mailusers.tab and aliases.tab are missing.
