I am also running Mandrake 8.1 on my server and I can't use the RPM and
therefore I always (since a couple of versions now) compile XMail
myself :

You can do that with : make -f Makefile.lnx and copy the compiled
binaries yourself.

The compiler is easily installed by the Mandrake Update tool. You can
find GCC in the development branche.
