I did manage to set up XMail to relay. I'm doing this so that I could
block mail spammers at the DMZ level, not burden my internal mail
server. I will also want in the future to scan mails for viruses, though
I haven't as yet found a way to this with mail relaying.
Of course, I need a mail relay so as not to expose my internal mail
server, etc.

Well you will have to set the mx records for the domains you want to
handle to point to your xmail server and then use the custom domain
handling in xmail to relay the message to the destination server. Look
at the manual under custom domain and the smtprelay directive.

Why is it that you want to do this? Maybe there is a way xmail can do it
all and not need two servers.
