It can still be done by giving your exchange server a bogus domain like =
yourcompany.local. You should also make sure that there is a (local) MX =
record for this domain (f.i. through DNS on your win2k PDC). Now you can =
forward (redirection with or without impersonation, as you wish) all =
mail for one or more users to your exchange server. You can still store =
the mail in xmail, but you can also leave this to exchange, as not all =
mail will pass through xmail (see next paragraph).

I think every alias/user can have only one main mailbox (either on xmail =
or on exchange) as the mail from exchange to a @yourcomany.net is =
handled locally by exchange. You *can* configure exchange to relay all =
mail for unknown users on your local domain to your xmail server. But =
still known users will be handled locally by exchange.

I think you should configure exchange to have yourcompany.local as it =
primary domain. Now there are two choices:
1. with local impersonation. Do not configure exchange for any other =
domain, so all mail for yourcompany.net will pass xmail. Configure xmail =
to redirect your mail to your .local domain WITH impersonation =
(LREDIRECT). All mail for yourcompany.local will not leave exchange. Now =
Xmail is your main mailserver for yourcompany.net.
2. without local impersonation. Configure exchange so that every user =
has a alias in the yourcompany.net domain and make this domain local for =
exchange. Now the mail will NOT pass xmail if sent through exchange. =
Exchange is the main mail server for your .net domain, but mail from =
external will pass xmail. As an option you can configure exchange to =
relay all local mail for unknown users to your xmail by means of a =
SMTP-connector.

For my installation i choose option 2 and it works fine. My exchange is =
purely local and all external mail (in- and outgoing) is handled by =
xmail.

Good luck.

Boechie.

the mailproc.tab of the user 'x' on the domain 'mycompany.net' in your
XMail server, with a "smtprelay" line like :

"smtprelay" "IP-OF-THE-SUCKY-EXCHANGE-MACHINE"

but wait ... there's no "smtprelay" supported in mailproc.tab !?!
ok, you have to wait 1.11 ... :)
