I would read the log message as xmail rejected a message that someone
was trying to send to your server for [EMAIL PROTECTED] A GOOD thing!

POP is not what you want to restrict, that is the protocol used to pick
up mail, not send it. SMTP is the proper protocol to look at. If you
empty smtprelay.tab you will have locked down your system. By default
EnableAuthSMTP-POP3 (in server.tab) is on in xmail and will allow your
users to send mail to outside domains because it will remember them from
when they POPed mail within the last few minutes. Otherwise you will
have to turn on in your mail client program Send Authentication when
sending mail.
