I'm just getting going with xmail server myself, but I found that if I left the "0.0.0.0" "0.0.0.0" in smtprelay.tab, I was open for relaying. You can test this by doing a telnet from your server to: telnet relay-test.mail-abuse.org It will run its tests and let you know if you have an open relay. Once I deleted the default line in smtprelay.tab and set EnableAuthSMTP-POP3 1, things seemed to work fine. I, too, was getting hammered from somebody in the korea.com domain, but it was only sporadic (usually in the middle of the night here in the US). The settings above finally seemed to resolve the issue, though... Hope this helps.

What I want to do is set up my server as my pop and email server. I travel and need to access and send email from various dial-ups. So I set: EnableAuthSMTP-POP3 1 in the server tab. In smtprelay.tab I set "0.0.0.0.0" "0.0.0.0" This seems to be working for the last 8 hours - no spam so far. I have testing sending and receiving from non-local servers. As long as I use Eudora it works. Outlook Express can't seem to figure out how to authenticate the SMTP properly. >1 and 0 have many meanings, but in general >1 is On, True, Yes, Enable >0 is Off, False, No, Disable > >All depends on the context which definition fits. > >Spool Errors will be removed and SMTP after POP3 is enabled > >Bill > > >---------- > >From: Chris Jones[SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > >Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2003 6:44 AM > >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Subject: [xmail] Documentation Conventions question > > > > > >I am wondering which is "on" and which is "off". > >For example, > >"RemoveSpoolErrors" "1" #does this mean spool errors are removed? > > > >Another example: > >"EnableAuthSMTP-POP3" "1" does this mean SMTP after POP3 authentication > >is enabled? > > > >Thanks! > > > > > > > > > > > >Chris Jones, P.
