Networks.co.uk is internal to the network. I have managed to telnet into
the mail server from an external PC and from internal PC's so I don=92t
think it is a network problem.

it's a network problem, can you ping an external server from your mail
server? maybe a firewall blocks outgoing connections at port 25.

try "telnet networks.co.uk 25" and see what happens.
