In your IP configuration, do you have only one DNS server set up, or more 
than one? To check, issue:

ipconfig /all

at a command prompt and look for the last few lines - they should list your 
DNS servers that are configured. Perform the previous test (doing an 
nslookup for type=mx on the target domain) for *each* DNS server listed 
(often times, Windows will randomly flop back and forth between the DNS 
servers that are configured - and if one of them is being slow to respond, 
that might be part of the problem).

But that's the only other thing I can think of....
