Hi; a friend of mine is running a fairly recent version of Xmail server, but installed a list of Windows "security patches" this morning. Since then, the POP3 service has been broken. I can telnet to smtp, so that service is up. I cannot telnet to POP3.
He uses WAI and can confirm that there are messages in the queue, and he can send messages. To me, this sounds like the pop3 service cannot start. There is a message in the error log when he reboots the server that says: The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( XMail ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Socket bind error Anyone encountering a similar problem or have an easy solution?
