Hmmm, is any mail going through? It almost sounds like XMail is generating errors while logging, sending notifications to the postmaster, which are bouncing or looping generating all the activity you see. Make sure the /var/MailRoot/logs directory exists and has it's permissions set to 700. What output are you getting on the console during this activity? Anyone else out there is welcome to jump in with suggestions. I'm running out of ideas.
