1st idea:
Do you run any Norton Antivirus or firewall on this machine?
If so, disable it for testing. I had several cases, where these =
applications had some bad side effects on other apps and services
....

2nd:
- Stop XMail
- del MialRoot/tabindex/*
- Start XMail
