Hi all,
First a Happy New Year to all the people involved in making
Xmailserver the best mailserver in the world, with top of the list
Davide ;).
Now that 1.xx series are going to be soon in maintenance mode with 2.0
closing in, is about time to fix once and for all the IMAP delivery
issue with Courier -IMAP, as probably some of you know this was an
issue for some time for the people that wanted to do IMAP delivery along
with the embedded POP3, Courier-IMAP fit the bill almost perfectly
except for an unfortunate issue, it wans messages stored with UNIX line
terminations and Xmailserver stores them with DOS/RFC CR/LF termination.
Some patches were flowing but unfortunately none of them was absolutely
perfect due to some issues while calculating beforhand the message parts
size ( clients like OE that grap all the message at once and processed
locally were happy but mozile who likes to grab part by part was
baffled) and NONE of the patches were able to deal with mixed mode
messages ( for example some people migrating from Courier or Qmail
server to Xmail and having large folders with messages in UNIX file format).
Enters Andrei ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) who worked a patch for
Courier-IMAP that is able to deal corectly and completly with messages
stored both in UNIX or RFC format in a way that is fully compatible
with all important mail clients that we can get a hold on them,
intensive test were done with Outlook Express, Mozilla, Evolution and Kmail.
The patch is against Courier imap 2.2.1 ( works with 2.2.0 also and
maybe older versions) and can be downloaded imediatly from:

And did I say that Andrei managed also to fix Courier's POP3 daemon
also to accept mails in both formats ( in the same patch) ??

All is needed now for Davide to accept a patch for Xmailserver POP3
daemon that was on the list and is available in the downloads section of:
http://www.smartpost.ro/ that deals with a small issue in file naming
done by Courier that makes sometimes messages appeared as doubled and
we'll be perfectly happy while Xmail 2.0 will stabilize for general
consumption. Please Davide is just a small and not intrusive patch, can
we have it in 1.18, plizz, pretty plizz :).

bug burried somewhere ;).
