One thing that is not correct is that if you see clamscan still running the filter is also running and that is strange. For the filter it doesn't matter if it is a mail to 1 address or to 100 addresses. The filter just gets the attachments to scan. Are those large attachments when it goes wrong? Perhaps scanning takes too long and then the problem occurs?
