No 'error/alert' popup on the receiving client side ?
or any 'error/alert' popup or mail on the sending client side ?
To see if problem is caused by your xmail server or the MUA (client) =
side,
do this simple test :
1 - Close receiving client software
2 - Send a mail with a Word file attached FROM a sending client =
directly
using your xmail server as smtp server
3 - Examine the message in the final user mailbox ON the xmail server =
by
opening it with wordpad or notepad and search for the different
'Content-Type:' fields in the mail until you find somethink like this
(fields values can vary) :
Content-Type: application/msword;
name=3D"MyDoc.DOC"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename=3D"Mydoc.DOC"
Verify there is encoded data after the fields
4 - If you find somethink like this, it seems the attachment is here =
and the
mail in xmail is complete, continue to 6
5 - If you don't find the attachment in the mail on the server then =
this can
be a filter on your xmail server like anti-virus or anti-spam filters
misconfigured or with false positive response
6 - POP the mail from the receiving client to see if the attachment is =
still
here
7 - If attachement is not here then your problem is with you client =
software
or antivirus or anti-spam on the RECEIVING client pc
8 - If attachment is here then the problem is BEFORE your xmail server, =
so
on the 'sending' user/server side, continue to 9
9 - send the same mail from the 'original' sending pc
10 - read receiving mail on xmail server (repeat stage 3) then if you =
don't
find the attachment in the mail on the server problem can be :
- a filter on the sending server, the one the sending user uses to send =
its
mail (like anti-virus or anti-spam filters)
- same as above on a 'intermediate' server (gateway, firewall, relay, =
....)
- the client software or antivirus on the SENDING pc
- OR more simply ;-) !!!! The sending client pc is 'infected' and a av =
in
the 'route' detected it but did not report it (simply removes the =
infected
attachment and continue delivery) !!
