Hello list, After 61 days uptime, my XMail suddenly crashed. After the crash the system began to behave flaky and some other processes locked up or went down aswell, so I don't know whether XMail was to blame or if it just was the first process to take the hit from some weird system wobbling (kernel built july 2003). A reboot and everything went back to normal again.
The reason I suspect XMail being part of this, is that I have noticed it has a memory leak. The leak is very predictible occurring every 48 hours at about noon. I'd like to mention also that a freshly started XMail takes about 15% of the target system RAM, when the crash occured it was up to some 50% and along with other processes at that point was knocking at 100% RAM usage. I have attached the system log and a link to a graph showing a RAM trace over the past 30 days, aswell as the XMail sudden death: http://www.saltstorm.net/tmp/xmail-leak.png The target system is Linux 2.4.2x with XMail 1.18 system log if it helps: Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 6d742e63 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: printing eip: Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: c0145001 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: *pde = 00000000 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Oops: 0000 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: CPU: 0 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: EIP: 0010:[<c0145001>] Not tainted Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: EFLAGS: 00010a93 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: eax: c1260398 ebx: 6d742e63 ecx: 0000000f edx: c1240000 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: esi: 6d742e53 edi: cbaa8160 ebp: 296bcbd6 esp: c7c3fef0 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Process XMail (pid: 181, stackpage=c7c3f000) Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Stack: c013c760 6d742e53 c1260398 c4536005 00000015 c7c3ff8c cbd063c0 cbaa8160 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: c7c3ff8c c013c760 cbaa8160 c7c3ff8c 00000000 c013d2ad cbaa8160 c7c3ff8c Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: 00000000 ffffffeb 00000242 cbaa8160 c7c3ff84 c013d6bf c7c3ff8c cbaa8160 Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Call Trace: [<c013c760>] [<c013c760>] [<c013d2ad>] [<c013d6bf>] [<c01326b4>] Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: [<c0132a3b>] [<c01070b3>] Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Mar 4 10:21:11 eowyn kernel: Code: 8b 1b 39 6e 44 75 e8 8b 7c 24 28 39 7e 0c 75 df 8b 47 4c 85 - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe xmail" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line "help" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
