Thanks Davide and Don for the help. I had previously remmed out the lines in filters.in.tab but it didn't help solve the problem.
Removing the filters.in.tab completely (emptying it) allowed it to function properly. "#"'ing the lines out didn't work. I took out each of my filters 1 at a time and it apparently was the av-filter.tab hosing us. This is the filter written by Pete Lindemann and it's using CLAMAV. I've taken the same filter (a while back) and modified it to use different strings so it could co-exist and I use it as f-prot.tab. This gives us 2 different scanners. So, apparently clamav is to blame. We running the latest version of clamav and it's fully up to date.
