Not using from a long time "pop before smtp" auth method.

As noted by Davide seems your smtp and pop sessions start at same time, so
the pop 'auth' transaction could not be complete at the time the smtp
session check for a previous "pop auth" accepted.

IMOO "pop before smtp auth" is not the "best" way to auth for smtp because :
- it can allows spammers/trojans/viris infecting "pop before smtp" pcs or
any pcs on the same natted lan to use the smtp server as a relay :(
(the server remembers only that the IP is "authenticated" for some time).
- when only sending a mail the user can't use immediate sending option on
many mua because many of them don't automaticaly associate a pop before a
smtp.
The only way to bypass this problem is to configure xmail increase the "pop
before smtp" timeout and doing this putting the server 'relay open' from the
incoming ip for this long timeout (previous problem) :(,
Or the user need to manually click 'receive/send' buttom on each mail to
effectively activate a pop session.
- because of some user/customer anti-viruses / filters / gateways / proxies
/ nat devices / firewalls introducing some latencies the pop session could
start too late or too simultaneously with the smtp session causing a problem
similar to yours.

I can only recommend you to switch to the good smtp auth method :)
It's not 'difficult' to configure for a customer or user with a little
manual (and some screen shoots) and avoid many problems :)

Objet: [xmail] SMTP after POP3 in 1.25 pre-22

Hi all,

is anybody having issues with SMTP after POP3 auth in pre-22? Not
working for me even if enabled, trying to understand why.

Other SMTP auth's working as expected.

Ciao, Francesco
