That's because mame supports merged romsets. If a merged romset shares
roms then every romset with a shared roms that exists in the parent
directory/zip will be reported on. For this reason, I have taken to
collecting clones that are the most up-to-date version, or the World or US
versions, so that for example with pacmanm.zip mame will only report the
status of that one romset whereas pacman.zip will report ... too many! :)
