This may sound crazy, but have you tried compiling with less optimisation
and/or using different scaling factors? UAE has a similar problem where
it is capable of exceeding the bandwidth of many superscalar CPUs IO
channel, creating bus errors. The problem is of course with lousy cache
controllers, and the workaround is simply to slow the code down.
