How to enable joy port?

I have a question that may be off topic but any way..

I use a C-Media CM8738 PCI Card, it's working in Mandrake 7.2 with the
module that came with the kernerl, my question is

how do I know if the joy port is enabled?
and if its not enabled how do I enable it?

I'm using kernel 2.2.17
