Just out of interest. I'm running 2.4.2 and having problems with joysticks.
I want to check I have all the relevant modules running etc.
Can you do an lsmod and send me (or the group) the results?

I'm having trouble using my Sidewinder gamepad with xmame .37b12.1pre2. I
know the joystick works fine with other things, so it's not a module
issue. I'm using kernel 2.4.2 with devfs, debian unstable, sdl
1.1.8. Everything compiles nicely.
If I use the commandline :
./xmame.SDL -jt 4 -jdev /dev/input/js -rp ~/binarchive/arcade/ sfa2
I get :
SDL: Info: Video mode set as 640 x 480, depth 16
I386 joystick interface initialization...
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!/dev/input/js0
Joystick: /dev/input/js0 is Microsoft SideWinder GamePad
Joystick: Built in driver version: 2.0.0
Joystick: Kernel driver version : 2.0.0
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!/dev/input/js1
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!/dev/input/js2
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!/dev/input/js3
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!/dev/input/js4
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!/dev/input/js5
OSD: Info: Joystick 0, 2 axis, 10 buttons
The joystick info is correct. When I try and play the game I am able to
punch and kick with buttons a/b/c/1/2/3 but I cannot move
up/down/left/right. If I try to assign up/down/left/right in the tab
menu, nothing happens. It's like the program isn't reading the x and y
axis. Anyone have some ideas?
