Is there something I'm not configuring correctly? Any help would be > welcome at this time. :) On my humble laptop (Celeron 550 w/128mb ram, ati mach64 4mb card), I run xmame.x11 in DGA mode and get _WAY_ better performance than mame32 fullscreen. Under xmame, most Capcom CPS[1-2] and Neogeo games run at a clean 60fps, while in mame32 I get not only a jumpy and completely unplayable framerate, but also an annoying, crackly sound output. Not to mention those huge Neogeo games use _MUCH_ less memory in Linux, so I can actually play them under Linux and get very little "disk thrashing", compared to emulators under Windows which need about 250 megs of swap to run them (needless to say it's very choppy). Do I need to say I really love xmame? :) BTW, why is almost everyone using the SDL version?! Come on, xmame already has a direct x11 render available!! Unless you want to use the framebuffer device (bad idea, it's most likely unaccelerated), using SDL is just a pointless additional overhead, IMHO. _______________________________________________ Xmame mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://toybox.twisted.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/xmame
