I like hardware scaling too, but the guy needed performance tips, and xv is
actually the slowest xmame.x11 render.

Maybe, but svgalib is an old, obsolete and deprecated library that probably
won't run cleanly on a recent machine, while DGA should most likely work if
his X server does.
