here's what I meant to say:
what do you get if you add a "print parser" statement after the
make_parser() call? on my stock Python, I get:
<xml.sax.expatreader.ExpatParser instance at 0x009DE0A8>
under at least Python 2.1, 2.3, and 2.4. maybe you're getting
some less capable parser?
(the locator type varies slightly, but it's there in all three versions).
