  It will be solved when someone considers it a problem and fixes it.

Do whatever you can to make this easier and it will be fixed faster !

It is open-source, we usually take patches, there is a bugzilla, etc ...
Trying to work with an OSS project by just asking
   "when is my problem then noone else is seeing gonna be fixed ?"
very unlikely to be effective.

List the headers, list the changes needed, provide a patch, use bugzilla,
those steps might have actually got your problem fixed by 2.6.22 . Without
those you're just waiting for someone else to consider this important and
fix it for you, since it's not even in bugzilla or on a platform that I
use there is zero chances that I would do it myself, and the only other
answer you got on the list was clearly it was not libxml2 project problem...

Open source is a *process*, follow the process ...
