Hi all,

the "unique" responses to my question on XML Search
Engines in a single place. This seemed like a useful
thing to do. I hope this doesn't violate any protocols
that I don't know about.

Thanks for your help.

Try PLS (www.pls.com) freeware from AOL. AOL There is an SGML reader which
works well with XML. There is an API-based interface called CPL, plus a
higher-level package called PLWeb.

Blue Angel Technologies sells a product called MetaStar Server which indexes
and provides the ability to search XML. It comes in two flavors, one using
the AltaVista search engine and the other uses Fulcrums.

I know of nothing that is shareware. Try webmethods B2B. Ariba's ORMS/ORMX
can search CXML documents... NOt sure how Ariba's IBX works but in any case
it is a vendor specific solution. The story with Commerce One is similar.

Let us know how it goes!

We make an XML Search Engine which is massively scaleable, and will be
available Late July/ Early August. It is not freeware, but is the only
engine that does not build its indexes based on content schemas, AND also
scales well.

http://www.xmlglobal.com, www.goxml.com.

GoXML.com is using a technology preview release of our software, and has
been running since July '99. The new, saleable release enjoys exponential
increases in scaleability.

If your data is persisted XML from an ADO.Save you could take full advantage
of ADODB filters, queries, etc. with a couple of lines of code.

Only now does the beauty of MS's z:row become extremely clear. When MS
updates ADO to read any schema based XML document then the answer to your
problem will be obvious.
