Jeffe,

The scenario I'm looking to solve would be I send a Purchase Order from my
company using XML in an email to one of my less sophisticated suppliers.
The supplier picks up the email opens the XML document and this action
creates an acknowledgement back to me to resolve the PO transmission. The
XML would have to have the ability to spawn the 997 like document back to
the originator. This solution would give me an equal to EDI for my smaller
suppliers. Most importantly the vendor would only need to have an ISP, the
XML would do all the work within the browser.

Thanks,

Key to all of these solutions is the ability to create a 997 like document
from the receipt of the transaction. I have found that most of the initial
releases of XML solutions, don't support the 997 response and therefore
can't offer an equal to EDI. Perhaps future releases of XML software will
have this capability making the XML solution a good fit for the less
sophisticated trading partners.

Having had our fill of Mercator and its way of doing things, we are
looking
for a set of Java classes that implement the parsing/creation/representation
of
EDI documents, preferably with the ability to automatically create 997's
after
parsing some input file. The classes need only represent the contents of
the
documents some way with the appropriate getters, setters, and other methods.
If
it interfaces with some XML format, even better. Does anything like this
exist?
If so, how robust is it?
    Thanks.
