Simon:
Let me address the first two of your questions ...
1. One of the banking XML vocabularies moving along well is the Interactive
Financial Exchange, a DISA client. See http://www.ifxforum.org/ for
details, including financial institutions taking part. The mortgage
banking industry has its own group looking at XML. It is called the
Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization or MISMO, also a DISA
client. See http://www.mismo.org/ for details.
2. The answer to question #2, is probably the words one hates to hear ...
it depends. If you need to integrate the Web site with a complex legacy
system, you are talking big bucks (or whatever currency you may be
using). If you create an occasional document, you can use authoring tools
at reasonable prices. See XML.Com for a list of editors at
http://www.xml.com/pub/pt/Editors .
3. If the consultants on the list do not answer question #3, check out
GCA's independent consultants cooperative at
http://www.idealliance.org/icc/default.htm .
Best regards.
