The USPS is not part of the federal government, and does not receive subsidies
from tax or other monies by the government. Of course, perception is everything,
and if the general populus thinks we get tax money, then that's what they think.
I can tell by my paycheck though; vs Fed paychecks for the same work, we are not
sharing in that surplus.

It would also be suicidal to add a new tax in an election year when the
federal government is running record surpluses.

You have been had. Laugh if off.

Fred - Cool. I'm working too hard and got up too early this morning.
I think everyone else had a laugh too. Duh.

Had heard rumours and seen something in press on the USPS front
though that you mentioned.

Lots of competition in that 'pay your bills' world - but certainly the USPS
has market share ; -)

If they can pull it off on a major scale (50% not 5%) this would have a
massive impact on the economy and remove paper like never
before.

I've been dalying with Paytrust.com and so from the human side - having
one consistent record that's not in a shoe box is nice, but of course
there are bigger issues - as I alluded too with my e-mail on the
digital signature side.

Good to know that the USPS is thinking big and the future - we
should be talking to them about using ebXML for the underpinning...

There you see - ask an idiot question - find out something really
interesting and useful!

Thanks, DW.
