1. Biztalk just went Beta and no one is certain when (probably it will
though - joke !) go production. e. last week at the XML World 2000
conference in Boston someone from Microsoft giving a Biztalk presentation
said Biztalk is still a year away.
2. you will need more than just Biztalk to operate, like SQL Server 2000,
and .... all probably on new licen$ing scheme's. I guess my point here is,
since we're not yet talking Biztalk street version and with more systems
developers NOT talking about 'edi' but about 'xml' (maybe with Soap) and
with all the intense activity on Open Source and Linux and
http://www.apache.org and .... what's a good compare for different 'XML-EDI
or EDI-XML' platforms. I think you're facing a very very immature software
market where the XML architecture itself is recognized as not complete but
rapidly being filled in (well except for XSchema's but we all live in hope
- well some of us). 'Buyer beware'
3. try http://www.xml.com for buyers guides of products (part products !)
that are out on the market today.

Having said all of that, I do want to be clear that Microsoft can make some
really great software which has changed the world; whenever it comes out in
it's second production release and the version number doesn't end in a zero.
It's just that they have their own version of time in Redmond.

Thanks
Dave

Subject: Hello:

Besides Biztalk, are there any XML-EDI or EDI-XML mappers that are
affordable or shareware? (Ones that actually work that is.) EDI mappers are
generally very expensive and I wanted to see if anyone knew of anything out
there.

Thanks,
kris
