I am very pleased to be able announce that the
GUIDE website is now operational.
http://www.xmlguide.org
GUIDE is designed to provide businesses a simple
way of implementing XML based business processes,
particularly in the context of ebXML.
You can define and document your interchanges in
a consistent way that your business analyst staff
can use.
While programmers will find that advanced techniques
such as W3C schema can also be incorporated.
However, since W3C Schema is an order of magnitude
more complex than XML V1.0, the GUIDE approach
provides a natural and inituitive system that ordinary
businesses can use today.
Furthermore GUIDE markup links to existing work,
such as the excellent EDI igML definitions, OASIS Registry,
ISO11179 and other relevant specifications.
If you are implementing industry vertical XML transactions
I urge you to review GUIDE as a means to prepare your
industry dictionaries and transactions for use within ebXML.
The GUIDE specifications have been submitted formally
to ebXML for use in the public domain.
Coming shortly we will be including the working drafts for
ebXML Business Process and Core Components structures
to allow you to position to support those, and also ebXML
Repository storage.
As the ebXML work proceeds forward we are particularly
interested in working with organizations on early adoptor
implementations, and migrate legacy dictionaries to
GUIDE format.
The purpose of the GUIDE website is to provide a
resource for such implementations and also an associated
mailing list.
Looking forward to working with our XML/edi community on
enhancing and refining the GUIDE approach.
Thanks, DW.
